Haven by Grant Harbison

A wish
Ostensibly candid desire
But not enough to fuel the fire
Too readily quenched
My Achilles is well and truly entrenched
Immune to resistance
Sagacity lingers at a distance
Barriers built
Susceptible only to seeping guilt
But the hedonist is so hard to quash
To acquiesce
To the pseudo haven that masks distress
